The 25th of April is ANZAC Day, a day to honour Australian and New Zealanders who have served their countries with such bravery.
One of the most effective ways to ensure our children understand the importance and significance of ANZAC day is through books.
Recount the stories of men, women and animals at war, as well as those who were left at home – waiting, working, praying, hoping and sending care packages.
An annual tradition that the late PDG David and his wife Carolyn Cook organise. Our club provides books to the library of two local schools.
Books are chosen that are related to Anzac Day and relevant to the age of the readership. Carolyn Cook generally takes control of this, and this year in keeping with traditions, books have been purchased and will be delivered shortly. This program has been going for 20+ years.
On Friday the 22nd of April, 2021 President Michele Ellery, PDG Bob Aitken AM and District Secretary and club board member Pamela Noal will present the books at the Emu Heights and Emu Plains Public schools assemblies.
